AC Milan have set their sights on signing teenage forward Luka Romero from Lazio on what would be a free, according to a report.

Romero was one of the protagonists of the U20 World Cup which was recently played in his native Argentina. He played four games in the team management by Javier Mascherano, the same amount of games he played for Lazio in the whole Serie A season.

As Calciomercato.com report, his contract expires on 30 June 2023 and the negotiation for the renewal – due to high demands from his agents over commission – means that he will leave on a free transfer.

The player himself is frustrated at the lack of use by Maurizio Sarri and is ready to change scenery. Romero will be released in 16 days, but even today he could sign on a free transfer with his next club.

His agent is examining various offers such as a potential return to Argentina, a move back to LaLiga where he has numerous admirers or even staying in Italy.

Milan are also moving for Romero who believe in his talent and have sensed the opportunity to seize a free transfer. At 18 he already has experience and the potential to grow. However, it will be up to the playmaker to decide based on the prospects of playing time.
