According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan directors have decided against appointing Julen Lopetegui as their next coach, also following fans’ protests, so they are considering Roberto De Zerbi and have made contact with five other candidates.

Spanish coach Lopetegui won’t be the Milan coach in 2024-25, reports La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report claims the Rossoneri have decided to drop the ex-Real Madrid boss primarily due to the fans’ protests, so they are now considering different targets to replace Stefano Pioli next season.

Milan drop Lopetegui and call five coaches

A second report from the pink paper claims the Rossoneri directors have already spoken to five candidates plus Lopetegui. They are Paulo Fonseca, Julian Nagelsmann (who has decided to remain with Germany beyond the summer, so he’s no longer available), Christophe Galtier, Marcelo Gallardo and Domenico Tedesco.

However, they are not the only candidates for the job.

According to the report, Milan are also considering Brighton coach Roberto De Zerbi, a product of their academy as a footballer, and their ex-midfielder Mark Van Bommel, a close friend of RedBird’s Advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic who won a Serie A title as a footballer at San Siro.
