Reports are growing that Milan and Mike Maignan are too far apart in negotiations for a new contract, so he could be sold this summer.

The goalkeeper is tied to the club until June 2026, but having been burned before by Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu, they are determined not to lose another top player for free.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the talks have so far not progressed at all and it is suggested that the gap between offer and demand is so great that it probably cannot be closed.

There were already suggestions that he had requested €8m per season wages to sign a new contract.

That is a vast increase from his current €2.8m salary and Milan are believed to be offering closer to €5m per season.

Maignan was purchased from Lille in 2021 for €15.4m, so any sale would be at a huge profit with the France international likely to attract €40-50m proposals.

It has not been a great season for the shot-stopper, who has struggled with injuries and poor form.

Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have already shown interest in purchasing Maignan and Milan are certainly prepared to listen to offers.
