The AC Milan management are occupied with planning for the future and there are some worries regarding Mike Maignan and Theo Hernandez, a report claims.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via Radio Rossonera) has a segment dedicated to the Rossoneri with the title: ‘Milan in the balance’. The notion is that while trying to pick the new head coach and the summer targets, there are a number of players in the current squad whose fates must be decided too.

It is a long list that also includes Rafael Leao and all those players who could leave in the event of an offer that is difficult to refuse, as the Sandro Tonali case showed last summer. This seems to apply above all though to Maignan and Theo.

The pair are attracting interest from Bayern Munich and the thorny issue linked to their contract remains. Even if Milan have no intention of selling the French duo and have been negotiating the extension of their contracts – expiring in 2026 – for months, they have not got there yet.

There is a fairly sizeable difference between the club’s offers and the players’ requests. The goalkeeper earns €2.8m net per season, the full-back €5m, both plus bonuses.

The request from each is €8m net per year but the ceiling has been set at €5m by Giorgio Furlani and co. with the only exception being Leao (€7m, including bonuses). They are difficult negotiations therefore, but the parties are at work while waiting for concrete offers.
