AC Milan will use the game against Genoa this evening as a chance to take a look at Morten Frendrup up close, according to a report.

As Calciomercato.com report, the renewal of Frendrup’s contract with Genoa until 2028 was the reward for an excellent season so far and he has established himself as one of the best performers under head coach Alberto Gilardino.

Although he has just penned a long-term deal, what it realistically means is that the Grifone can negotiate from a position of strength when interested clubs come calling, and there are scouts at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris to watch him most weeks.

Juventus are admirers of Frendrup but they are not alone, because in recent weeks Milan have watched him on several occasions, receiving excellent reports. Geoffrey Moncada and Antonio D’Ottavio like the 23-year-old and have added him to their list of summer targets.

Milan’s choice on whether to go for Frendrup or not will depend a lot on the opinion of the new coach. At the moment the Rossoneri sees the Dane as more of a mezzala than a defensive midfielder, so much will depend on which system Stefano Pioli’s successor will use next season.
