Il Corriere di Bergamo claims Atalanta striker Luis Muriel has agreed to join MLS side Orlando City.

Colombian striker Muriel will join Orlando City on a permanent transfer from Atalanta, claims Italian newspaper Corriere di Bergamo.

Talks between Atalanta and the MLS side have been ongoing for a few days and the experienced striker is said to be ready to join his compatriot Oscar Pareja, the Orlando City coach, in Florida.

Muriel’s Atalanta contract is set to expire in June 2024, but according to the report, he has decided to leave Bergamo before the expiration of his deal to move closer to his home country and get regular playing time.

Muriel had been linked with a free transfer to Inter next season but he wouldn’t have been a regular starter at the Stadio Meazza in 2024-25.

It is reported that Atalanta will earn circa €4m from the striker’s sale, saving €1.5m from his salary.

Muriel scored 68 goals in 184 games with La Dea, including two in 18 Serie A appearances this term.
