Milan midfielder Yunus Musah was on the field all 90 minutes as the United States spurned an early lead in a 3-1 friendly loss to Germany on Saturday evening. In fact, four Serie A stars, including Christian Pulisic, Timothy Weah, and Weston McKennie, started for the USMNT last night.

Pulisic opened the scoring on the stroke of the half-hour mark with an outrageous solo goal. The USMNT captain translated his superb Milan form to the international stage to send the Rentschler Field crowd into a dreamland. Unfortunately for Gregg Berhalter’s fleet, Pulisic’s heroics were in vain as Germany netted three unanswered goals in the last 50 minutes of play to grab a win.

And while Pulisic looked as sharp as ever, Musah wasn’t atop his game in East Hartford. Barring occasional flashes of his blistering pace and trademark forward runs, he largely struggled to cope with the technical prowess of Ilkay Gundogan and Jamal Musiala. Regardless of a less impressive performance, the new Milan star seems to be enjoying his early life at San Siro.

It was frustrating, Germany dominated us and it’s not nice when it happens like that,” Musah told Gazzetta Dello Sport. “The coach gave me a lot of trust, even here in the national team I feel the coach’s trust. I’m happy at Milan, I can grow a lot.”

In a week from now, Milan and Juventus will trade tackles in a Serie A blockbuster. Musah will face his international colleagues McKennie and Weah. Asked about his feelings of the upcoming showdown, he replied: “Beautiful! I hope to be able to play with all of them. It will be a great moment.”
