While the situation at the top of the Serie A table is pretty straightforward, with Inter set to win the Scudetto, a fiercely-contested relegation battle will go down to the wire. Aside from the already doomed Salernitana, as many as seven teams remain firmly embroiled in a heated survival scrap.

Only six points separate 19th-placed Sassuolo and 13th-placed Lecce ahead of the final six rounds, making it almost impossible to predict the outcome of this intense fight.

Betting on the Serie A Relegation Battle

It’s hard to comprehend Sassuolo’s downfall, knowing they used to be among the most exciting underdogs in Serie A for years. However, a poor return of just one win from their last 12 league outings has plunged them into the bottom three, two points adrift of safety.

Every game from now on is a ‘make or break’ for Sassuolo as top-rated online bookmakers offer great odds on the next Serie A six-pointer between Davide Ballardini’s side and the Giallorossi of Salento.

Sassuolo will enter this contest coming from an enthusiastic 3-3 tie against Milan, with the Rossoneri grabbing a late equalizer only on 84 minutes. Lecce, on the other hand, were one of the only two sides the record a win in Matchday 32, which helped ease their situation in the table.

Taking points from this encounter would go a long way to reigniting Sassuolo’s survival hopes. However, they’ll also need better-ranked sides to drop points. Given Frosinone’s well-documented defensive woes, you would bet on the Canaries to slip several times, especially on the road, where they’ve yet to win a league game this term.

Other Candidates for Relegation

The same goes for all other relegation candidates, including Cagliari, Hellas Verona, Empoli, and Lecce. All these teams have lost 14+ Serie A matches this season. ‘Stalemate specialists’ Udinese have only suffered ten defeats, but 16 league draws have kept them agonizingly close to the drop zone.

Udinese’s top-flight credentials will face a stern test on Saturday as they face other relegation contenders Verona away. The Friulani still have one game in hand as their recent battle with Roma was suspended with 18 minutes to go following Roma defender Evan Ndicka’s collapse on the pitch.

Of all the teams stationed above the bottom three, Lecce seem to be in the safest position, yet two wins in their last nine league outings means they can’t take anything for granted. Neither can Cagliari and Verona, who went from back-to-back league wins to three straight games without a victory.
