Neil Lennon praises Ireland recruitment process as Celtic legend awaits news

Celtic legend Neil Lennon has praised the Republic of Ireland recruitment process as the manager admitted that he is waiting on a call to let him know whether he will be taking on the International vacancy. England U21 boss Lee Carley is widely tipped as being the favourite for the job but Lennon is also in contention, having interviewed for the role.

The Irishman, from Lurgan, represented the North but had said previously he would be interested in taking over from Stephen Kenny. Now, it appears that the FAI will look to appoint the former Celtic player and manager.

Kenny was dismissed after the Irish failed to qualify for the European Championships in Germany. Lennon has been on the list of favourites given his achievements at Celtic and now talks have taken place.

Lennon, who won five titles as Celtic boss as well as four Scottish Cups and one League Cup during his time at the club across two spells. A battling midfielder, Lennon is a Celtic legend and it would be good to get him back into the game with his passion making him perfect for international management.
