Newcastle United defender Fabian Schar is battling to overcome a hamstring injury.

Schar missed Switzerland's Euro qualifier with Israel last night.

The defender played the full 90 in defeat at Bournemouth on the weekend, though picked up the strain before halftime.

Today, Schar will take part in an individual training session at the team hotel as his muscle problem is assessed.

Despite the concern, Newcastle cleared Schar to join the Swiss squad this week.
