According to reports on Tuesday afternoon, Napoli centre-back Leo Ostigard could be on his way out of the club in January in favour of a return to Genoa, where he spent six months on loan in 2022.

The 24-year-old joined the Partenopei off the back of his loan spell with Genoa in the summer of 2022, signing a four-year deal until the summer of 2026, having previously spent four years on the books with Premier League outfit Brighton.

Ostigard was part of the Napoli squad that were crowned Serie A Champions for the first time in over 30 years in 2022-23, playing in seven league matches across the season.

He has since gone on to register 12 league appearances this campaign, eight of which have been as a starter, as well as four appearances in the Champions League, three off the bench, and a further 90 minutes in the Coppa Italia.

However, according to information from TMW, Napoli do not consider Ostigard to be a long-term starter and that he could be replaceable in the transfer market.

Genoa, meanwhile, are likely going to be in need of a centre-back if Radu Dragusin joins Tottenham this transfer window, as has been widely tipped in the press in recent weeks.

If Dragusin does leave, Genoa will have some cash to spend and an investment on the €5m-rated Ostigard, who is already familiar with the Grifone set-up.
