On Friday, the announcement came from Kylian Mbappé himself that he’ll bid farewell to Paris Saint-Germain after this season, as his contract expires next month. The question for the Ligue 1 side is what’s next, as no superstar is waiting in the wings to replace him.

For PSG, replacing their all-time leading goal scorer will have to be done by a committee rather than entrusting that responsibility to one player. After the 3-1 loss to Toulouse on Sunday night in Mbappé’s last home match, Ousmane Dembélé spoke with Canal Plus over what he expects next for PSG in a post-Mbappé team.

Nonetheless, while there’s uncertainty, Dembélé believes that PSG will be able to overcome the loss of the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.

“I hope we’ll be even stronger,” Dembélé told the French media outlet (h/t Paris Fans). “This year, there have been 12 changes, and we’re managing to have a good season.

“We hope we’ll be even stronger; the more the matches progress, the better we know each other. As I said, there have been a lot of changes, which is huge, and I hope that next year we’ll be even stronger.”

After the UEFA Champions League final concludes, Mbappé will be officially revealed as Real Madrid’s latest signing. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see how PSG decides to replace its outgoing star player.
