Roma midfielder Leandro Paredes has revealed that his coach Daniele De Rossi is infatuated with Argentine Primera Division side Boca Juniors and that he ‘dreams’ of returning to the Bombonera as a coach one day.

Both Paredes and De Rossi, who enjoy a particularly close relationship, have featured for Boca Juniors at varying stages of their careers.

Paredes, who was born in Buenos Aires, began his career with Boca before joining Chievo on loan prior to his initial Roma move, while De Rossi concluded his career in Argentina following an 18-year senior career with the Giallorossi.

Paredes, who recently gave an interview to Argentine network TyC Sports, explained that it has always been De Rossi’s dream to coach Roma and then return to Boca together at a later date.

“He was already in love before he went to Boca. He always watches all of their matches. ‘Yesterday we won’ he’ll say to me afterwards.

“Before he became a coach, he told me that it was his dream to manage Roma, make me return to the club and then go to Boca together,” Paredes told TyC, reported via Calciomercato.com.

Paredes also explained that it is not always particularly straightforward when moving across continents, as De Rossi experienced during his seven-game Boca career.

“He was very happy at Boca, we spoke a lot during that time, he went crazy, in a good way. He was there for a very short time, it’s not always easy to arrive and adapt straight away. People want you to come in and play, it’s normal, but the player’s know it’s not easy.

“It happened to Cavani who arrived and was then criticised a lot, he had to commit, but he has determination and passion.”
