Pep Guardiola recently stated that he doesn’t regret selling Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko to a direct rival.

Arsenal has been incredible so far this season, they currently sit first in the Premier League table and are many people’s favourites to win the title.

Their sudden transformation from Champions League hopefuls to genuine title contenders has surprised a lot of people. They were always going to improve under Mikel Arteta but the rate at which they have done so has taken everybody aback.

But if you were to pinpoint the one moment which sparked their revival it would likely be the acquisition of Jesus and Zinchenk from Manchester City in the summer.

Arteta has worked with both players closely during his time as assistant manager and was able to convince both to join his project.

With the benefit of hindsight, this seems like a critical mistake from Guardiola but the Spanish manager doesn’t agree.

“They have been amazing for us, we have incredible respect for them as people first and as footballers,” he said.

“Of course we want to beat them, but all the success they’ve had, I’m more than delighted. Both clubs agreed and that’s all.”
