Phil Foden Scores Derby Double As Manchester City Come From Behind to Beat United

Phil Foden bagged a second-half brace as Manchester City came from behind to beat Manchester United 3-1 in Sunday's derby at the Etihad Stadium.

Foden's 10th and 11th Premier League goals of the season came after Marcus Rashford, another local lad, had fired United into an early lead with a long-range rocket.

Erling Haaland missed a sitter at the end of the first half but eventually wrapped up the three points for City in the 91st minute by scoring his 80th goal for the club.

Sunday's result moved City to within one point of EPL leaders Liverpool, while it left United six points short of the top five.

Rashford's spectacular opener - which came from United's only shot on target - rocked the home crowd but City equalized in the 10 minutes after half-time.

Foden cut inside onto his favored left foot and aimed a wicket shot into the top corner of Andre Onana's net from 23 yards.

City recorded 27 shots in total - 24 more than United - but it took Pep Guardiola's men until the 80th minute to complete the turnaround by taking the lead.

Foden put City ahead with a precise low finish from inside the penalty area after playing a one-two with Julian Alvarez that outwitted Casemiro and Raphael Varane.

Haaland then completed the scoring by coolly placing a shot past Onana in added time after Rodri had pinched the ball off Sofyan Amrabat.
