AC Milan’s Women Primavera clinched the league title earlier this evening after a dramatic 3-1 win against Sassuolo, which was decided in extra time. A strong signal ahead of the future, given the struggles of the main Women’s team.

Matteo Zago took over the Women’s Primavera team in November, following Davide Corti’s promotion to the first team, and it’s safe to say that his first season was a major success. After finishing in third place in the regular seasons, they managed to go all the way in the play-offs.

They faced Roma in the play-offs semi-final, beating them by an impressive scoreline of four goals to one. Sassuolo managed to knock out Inter by the odd goal and thus prepared to face the Rossonere in the final.

It ended up being a tight affair, with the score 1-1 as the referee blew his whistle for full-time. It went to extra time, therefore, and Milan managed to score two goals in the space of three minutes to seal the league title. The goalscorers were Appiah, Mikulica and Stokic.
