A round of medical tests has confirmed that Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel will be forced out of action for a number of weeks.

The 30-year-old Italian shot stopper, who has continued to prove a reliable and consistent pair of hands in the capital, was forced to miss the Biancocelesti’s 3-2 win over Frosinone on the weekend after suffering a painful ankle injury in the closing minutes of the loss to Udinese.

Provedel could not walk off the pitch after the injury, looking visibly pained, and Lazio immediately grew anxious considering his importance at the back. The 30-year-old has managed to keep 13 clean sheets across 38 matches this term.

As highlighted by Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Provedel underwent a new round of medical tests on Monday, with the MRI confirming that his left ankle ligament suffered an issue, a problem that’ll keep him out of action for at least 30 days, if not more.

The 30-year-old goalkeeper will therefore be forced to miss a number of important games, including the clashes with Juventus in Serie A and the Coppa Italia semi-finals, as well as the derby against Roma on 7th April.
