PSG Inches Closer to Gabriel Moscardo Signing, Barcelona Left to Regroup

Paris Saint-Germain has been in the mix for Corinthians midfielder Gabriel Moscardo over the last few days. A recent report from Le Parisien reveals that the Ligue 1 side has made good progress on this file.

Furthermore, PSG has convinced Moscardo of their project and intends to join the French giants. However, he should only integrate himself into the squad in June 2024, not this winter transfer window (with a possible loan following his transfer).

Moscardo’s reported decision to join the Parisians puts a dash in FC Barcelona’s plans.

SPORT reports that Barça sporting director Deco has long had his eyes on the midfielder, even before taking a role with the Spanish club. Nonetheless, his negotiating tactics have ended up leading to a dead end.

It seemed that Barça would take advantage of Chelsea’s lack of definition, which led them to present two offers to Corinthians (the last for €25 million). Still, Corinthians’ management rejected them, given the imminent presidential elections. 

Despite all this, Barça lost one of its options to reinforce the defensive midfielder position, where they only have Oriol Romeu.
