Paris Saint-Germain suffered a 3-1 defeat in Kylian Mbappé’s farewell match at the Parc des Princes for his hometown club. Despite the 25-year-old’s opening goal, Toulouse FC went on to score three unanswered goals, clinching the victory.

Last Friday, Mbappé announced that he’d be leaving the club after this season, with his contract expiring next month. Once the UEFA Champions League final is over, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner will officially be announced as Real Madrid’s newest player.

Nonetheless, that decision didn’t sit well with some supporters, who whistled the player before the match against Toulouse. After the game, manager Luis Enrique spoke with reporters and was asked about the whistles.

“I didn’t hear that; I heard applause and cheers,” Enrique said (h/t Canal Supporters). “It’s a well-deserved tribute to Kylian Mbappé. He’s a legend of the club. I saw the tifo; I found it very beautiful. I’m very happy it went like this, with this recognition. In that sense, it was a perfect evening. He still has a few matches to play with PSG, but I wish him the best in his career.”

Once the UEFA Champions League final is over, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner will officially be announced as Real Madrid’s newest player. It will be interesting to see if these two sides meet at some point in the Champions League while Mbappé is with the Spanish giants.
