Paris Saint-Germain will likely be looking to bolster its midfield this summer, and while the summer transfer window isn’t open yet, names are being ruled out. The latest name that likely won’t be arriving in the Spanish capital is a FC Barcelona player.

Recently, Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimarães has been ruled out as a possible target for the Ligue 1 side. Barcelona’s Gavi will likely be ruled out of reuniting with manager Luis Enrique.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Le10Sport), it’s difficult to imagine the Parisians triggering Gavi’s staggering one-billion release clause, let alone Barcelona consenting to his departure.

Nonetheless, the Catalan side is interested in Xavi Simons. If the 21-year-old reportedly remains adamant that he doesn’t want to return to the French capital, could there be a deal to be made between the two clubs?

PSG’s midfield has two key players: Vitinha and Warren Zaire-Emery. Whether Manuel Ugarte or someone else plays, there’s a spot open to form a formidable trio that will be the spine of the squad next season.
