Enzo Raiola is now the solo agent of Gianluigi Donnarumma but collaborated with Mino before his passing. He recounted the goalkeeper’s controversial departure from the Rossoneri to TuttoSport (via Virgilio).

“He never wanted to leave the team that raised him. He asked the club to be ambitious, but the results were lacking. After the arrival of the Elliott fund, the main goal was to fix the finances. Despite that, we had many meetings to discuss his renewal. Mino clarified that he didn’t want a Bosman departure but demanded the Champions League qualification.”

The relationship between the Donnarumma camp and Milan turned sour after meeting in May.

“We scheduled talks with Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara to take stock after the Rossoneri missed out on a top-four finish. Since he was averse ti leaving on a free, the plan was to arrange a swap or a transfer to Juventus. However, the directors told us that they were moving on because they had already signed another goalkeeper. His world crumbled at that point. We hadn’t inquired with other teams in January, and he didn’t want to listen to proposals to join as a free agent beforehand.”

Donnarumma decided not to move to the Bianconeri.

“He told us that he didn’t want to stay in Italy and that he would have gone to Juventus only if Milan profited from his sale. Every top team was set at that point, but Mino managed to convince PSG.”
