The San Jose Earthquakes (7-9-6) take on Chivas USA (4-12-5) as Chris Wondolowski returns to the squad. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara.
Last year’s MLS MVP Wondolowski will be back with the team after missing four MLS games while away on Gold Cup duty with the national team. The United States claimed the trophy on Sunday in Chicago against Panama, and Wondolowski grabbed the tournament’s Golden Boot as he crashed home five goals.
That tally actually equals the haul that Wondolowski has produced in 18 games for the Earthquakes in 2013. The 30-year-old Danville native hasn’t played for San Jose since the thrilling 3-2 California Clasico victory over the LA Galaxy at Stanford Stadium back on June 29.
