Two of the Premier League’s biggest clubs could go head to head this summer for Serie A’s outstanding defender this season.

Jurgen Klopp will be looking to make changes to his Liverpool squad after a disappointing campaign which sees his team struggling to make the top four and qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Manchester United have enjoyed greater fortunes however under Erik ten Hag and have already won the Carabao Cup and are still in the hunt for the Europa League.

As both teams look to strengthen in defence during the close season, they could be prepared to battle it out for Napoli’s Kim Min-jae.

That’s according to Calcio Napoli 24 (via Liverpool Echo) who claim that the north west rivals are in direct competition for the South Korean.

The 26-year-old has been outstanding in a Napoli team that are 19-points-clear at the top of Serie A and have reached the Champions League quarter-finals.

After just one year in Italy however, clubs are circling with the defender reported to have a release clause of between €50-€70million.

With Liverpool, United and PSG all reported to be in the running for his signature, the outlet suggests that whilst Napoli are keen to offer him a new deal on improved terms, that could be doubled by the interested suitors making his future in Italy an uncertain one.
