Roma captain Francesco Totti is hoping to renew his contract with the club as soon as possible and has not ruled out making an Italy comeback for next year's World Cup.
Totti has spent his entire career at Roma, and there was a party atmosphere at the club's training ground Thursday as players celebrated the 20th anniversary of his Serie A debut.
The 36-year-old Totti's contract runs out next year and he is keen to sort out a new deal.
''I hope (it is just a formality),'' he said. ''Roma president (James) Pallotta arrives next week and we will talk about it directly. But I'm happy the club is showing confidence in me.''
Totti is in great form and scored for the 226th time in the league in Roma's 2-0 win over Parma on March 17, surpassing Swedish great Gunnar Nordahl for second place on the all-time Serie A list, 48 goals behind Silvio Piola's record.
