Sarri on What Went Down with Galatasaray and Vecino

Matias Vecino was at risk of departing way after deadline day in Italy, as Galatasaray zeroed in on him. Maurizio Sarri confirmed that his departure couldn’t go through without a replacement. He discussed what occurred to DAZN after the Torino game.

“He had a request from Turkey, but the market was already closed in Italy. We didn’t even consider it. He called me, and I told him there was no chance he would leave, and he said ‘fine.’ That was it.”

Vecino hit the net to help Lazio return to winning ways against Torino. Despite their summer moves, he has started in two of the past three matches. He alternatively played over newcomers Daichi Kamada, Matteo Guendouzi, and Nicolò Rovella.

Sarri addressed his choices in his post-match remarks.

“We have to figure out whether we can afford a certain type of midfield. Integrating some of the newcomers will be a long process. For Rovella, the problem was only physical. Instead, we have to see if we can have him, Kamada, and Luis Alberto together from a defensive standpoint.”

He’s become the ol’ reliable for them. They always look stouter when he’s out there, better as a rugged regista than as a box-to-box. While the alternative is alluring, it’s hard to imagine the line and the squad in general would have proper balance sans either him or Guendouzi.
