Lazio might lose another linchpin to Saudi Arabia after partying ways with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic last summer, as Al Hilal have started eyeing his compatriot Adam Marusic. The two are represented by the same agent, Mateja Kezman, Il Tempo informs (via Calciomercato).

The fullback has a couple of years on his contract, so the Biancocelesti are in control of his future. That wasn’t the case for the star midfielder, who didn’t want to re-up his deal that would have expired in 12 months. He ultimately transferred for €40M.

Marusic has been one of the most utilized players by Lazio thus far. While Elseid Hysaj and Manuel Lazzari rotate, and Luca Pellegrini rarely gets minutes, he has started almost every contest. He has failed to do so just in the Champions League game versus Celtic Glasgow, where he subbed in late.

The 31-year-old moved to the Italian Capital from Oostende back in 2017 for €5.5M. He has accumulated 232 appearances since, tallying 10 goals and 15 assists.

Our Take on Marusic and Lazio

Other than his desire, as he’d predictably earn a lot more in Saudi Arabia, it’ll depend on the fee, which could be way above market value for an aging player. He’s not superb, but he’s the one that combines the two phases the best in their squad, hence the heavy playing time. He’d have to be replaced aptly.
