Dusan Vlahovic’s brace did not seem to be enough to end the winless streak against Frosinone, but Daniele Rugani’s last-gasp goal gave Juventus a much-needed victory.

The Bianconeri had just two points from the last four rounds and though Gleison Bremer returned from suspension, Danilo, Mattia De Sciglio, Moise Kean and Mattia Perin were out of action. The visitors had Kaio Jorge, Matias Soulé and Enzo Barrenechea against their parent club. Kevin Bonifazi, Riccardo Marchizza, Anthony Oyono, Mateus Lusuardi, Sergio Kalaj, Marvin Cuni and Giuseppe Caso didn’t make the trip.

It took under three minutes to break the deadlock, as Weston McKennie controlled a Federico Gatti ball over the top with a splendid first touch, rolled across and Dusan Vlahovic anticipated his defender at the near post.

However, Frosinone equalised when Marco Brescianini stood up a cross from the right by-line and found Walid Cheddira for a free header, despite being surrounded by five Juve players.

Vlahovic attempted to lob Michele Cerofolini when spotting the goalkeeper off his line, but Frosinone turned the game around instead when Harroui’s slide-rule pass sent Brescianini through to hold off two defenders and blast into the far top corner.

Adrien Rabiot limped off after a knock to the ankle, making way for Carlos Alcaraz, who had also been tipped to start.

Cerofolini made a fine save from close range on Vlahovic, but as the move continued, McKennie again threaded through for the striker to take one touch and sweep into the far bottom corner from 10 yards.

Brescianini cut inside from the right to blast just over the bar, while a corner was deflected onto Vlahovic with no time to redirect it from close range.

Juve were unlucky because Federico Gatti’s volley from a corner seemed to be going in until it was accidentally charged down by Alcaraz.

Kenan Yildiz came on and had a big chance to restore the lead until he scuffed the finish from close range on an Andrea Cambiaso pull-back, while Manuel Locatelli’s long-range strike was straight at Cerofolini.

McKennie made an error with his misplaced pass, but made up for it with a desperate sliding tackle on Kaio Jorge on the edge of the box. He hurt his shoulder in the process and had to be substituted.

Federico Gatti was in a surprisingly advanced role when firing across the face of goal under pressure from Caleb Okoli, then Vlahovic blasted over after combining with Arkadiusz Milik.

It seemed to be another winless game for Juventus, but deep into stoppages Samuel Iling-Junior’s corner was flicked on by Vlahovic to the back post, where Rugani managed to score from the tightest of angles through Cerofolini’s legs.
