Martin Jol was desperate for a good result, or at least a good performance, as his Fulham side travelled to Upton Park. The Dutchman was facing mounting speculation before the game and his sides 3-0 defeat turned out to be the final nail in the coffin.
After the sides fifth defeat in a row Jol was sacked as manager on Sunday afternoon. Rene Meulenstee, who made his name as youth team manager at Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson, will take over his duties.
The sacking means that all three sides who currently reside within the relegation zone, Crystal Palace and Sunderland, have already changed managers this season.
