Quique Sanchez Flores came in to Sevilla in December, and despite having managed to steady the ship over the last few months, his stay will not be extended beyond the final two matches of the season.

As reported by ED, Sevilla have decided not to extend Quique’s contract, which is due to expire at the end of the season. The 59-year-old is also prepared to leave, and will not be disappointing at walking away after the final match of the season against Barcelona at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan.

Quique’s replacement is already being lined up, and the report stated that Las Palmas’ Garcia Pimienta is the preferred candidate to take over from the summer. The former Barcelona B head coach is valued by Sevilla for his attractive style of play, as well as his ability to rely on youth players.

Pimienta would be a very good appointment by Sevilla, although it’s far from certain that they will be able to agree terms with Las Palmas for his departure. This situation will be one to watch in the coming weeks.
