Giovanni Simeone has been left unhappy with his lack of playing time this season and would reportedly be open to leaving Napoli in the coming transfer window.

The Argentine striker joined the Partenopei from Hellas Verona in the summer of 2022, initially spending a year on loan before his move was made permanent this summer. He was mostly used as a backup option in his first season, seeing 765 minutes of action across 33 games.

Things have not improved for Simeone this campaign. The striker has started just twice in the league and only seen 403 minutes of play over 19 total appearances, leaving him disappointed on the bench.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Simeone has been quietly working in training this term and has raised his frustrations with coach Walter Mazzarri, making clear that he’d like more regular minutes. He’ll likely feature more prominently once Victor Osimhen heads off to the Africa Cup of Nations.

Whilst the 28-year-old isn’t pushing for a move away from the Campania capital, he’d be open to leaving should an interested party arrive in the January transfer window.

Monza considered making a move for Simeone in the summer, but their interest ultimately came to nothing as they pursued other targets.
