Simone Sozza will officiate the game between AC Milan and Cagliari this evening, with the Rossoneri hoping to clinch all three points after six winless games. The precedents with the referee are positive, depending on how you look at it.

Sozza, who is quite young at the age of 36, has officiated Milan on three occasions before: AC Milan 4-0 Lazio in 2021-22 (Coppa Italia), AC Milan 2-1 Fiorentina in 2022-23 and Inter 5-2 AC Milan in the current season.

In short, two wins and one defeat, although the defeat against Inter was a really poor one. Milan cannot blame the referee for that one, though, so it must be said that Sozza has done a good job when officiating the Rossoneri’s games.

Stefano Pioli is hoping for a reaction from his players, benching some of the stars tonight, as he really wants to finish the season on a good note. Having won the Scudetto with the club, he certainly doesn’t want to end his tenure with nine games without a win.

Milan will still not be able to rely on the fans, though, as the Curva Sud have confirmed that their protest will continue for tonight’s game as well. It should make for yet another game with a strange atmosphere at San Siro.
