Christian Pulisic is putting together a career year at Milan following his transfer from Chelsea. The right winger position has been a sore spot for a while. He’s easily the most prolific one in their last ten years, Calciomercato informs.

The American star notched his tenth seasonal goal across all competitions versus Empoli. He hadn’t scored this much since his first Chelsea campaign. He has a few more matches to beat his personal best, 11. He has also totaled seven assists this campaign.

Before Pulisic, the last Milan player to put up decent numbers in the same position was Suso. Junior Messias hit the net at most six times, like Keisuke Honda in 2014/2015. Alexis Saelemaekers and Samu Castillejo were never particularly productive.

Moreover, the USMNT ace has the second-most game-winning goals in Serie A with five, Transfermarkt relays. He distanced a bunch of big-ticket strikers to draw level with Marcus Thuram in the ranking last week. Only Lautaro Martinez has produced more with seven.

Our Take on Pulisic

Milan’s number one priority last summer was to become less dependent on Rafael Leao, and they did it, even though only one-and-a-half of their new wingers have panned out fully, with the other being Noah Okafor, who has been serviceable as a super sub and fill-in starter. He’s been masterful in exploiting the room opened up by his teammates, but it wouldn’t hurt if he gained even more gravitas and touches within the construct of their offense.
