Ex-Ghana captain Stephen Appiah
Ex-Ghana captain Stephen Appiah will lead a host of former players to visit the Black Stars ahead of this Sunday’s World Cup qualifier against Sudan.
The iconic Ghanaian figure, who captained the team to two successive World Cups in 2006 and 2010, will be in the company of six other ex-stars to visit the players and boost their confidence ahead of the big game at the Baba Yara stadium.
CK Akunnor, Willie Klutse, Reverend Osei Kofi, Sammy Kuffuor and Tony Baffoe are among those expected to travel to Kumasi to support the national team.
The trip is being funded by the country’s Sports Ministry in collaboration with the Ghana FA.
Ghana is following the footsteps of fellow West African rivals Nigeria who flew some of their top stars to the Nations Cup to support the Super Eagles which eventually helped them to break their 19-year jinx by winning title in South Africa.
