Teenage striker Francesco Pio Esposito is “honoured” to be owned by Inter Milan, but also feels that playing time is paramount for him.

Pio Esposito spoke to Cronache Di Spogliatoio, via FCInter1908, about his future.

18-year-old Pio Esposito is currently on loan at Spezia. He has been playing for the Ligurians this season after joining on loan last summer.

This is Esposito’s first experience in senior football.

The young striker had shone playing for Inter’s youth teams over the last few seasons. And so the decision was made that it is time for him to take the step up to senior football.

And while nothing has been easy for Pio Esposito at Spezia, there have been positive signs.

The Inter-owned striker scored for the Ligurians in a 2-1 win over Venezia on Friday.

That goal was nothing less than crucial for Spezia’s season. It allows them to stay in Serie B, in a season where erratic form has meant their survival has been anything but a guarantee.

Francesco Pio Esposito On Future: “Proud Of Inter, But Need Playing Time”

Now the question will be what comes next for Esposito.

The 18-year-old hardly has to rush into making a decision about his future. He is still very much a young player.

But this summer will be an important turning point for the teenage striker.

Naturally, a place in Inter’s first team is, putting it mildly, not likely for Esposito.

But the big question concerns whether the young striker will get another loan – or even a permanent transfer.

Recent reports indicate that Torino are interested in Esposito’s signature. And that the teenager could even be a makeweight in a deal for defender Alessandro Buongiorno.

The player himself commented that “Inter are Inter.”

“We’re talking about the champions of Italy,” Esposito said of his parent club.

“I’m already honoured just to be owned by them.”

“But I would see it being very difficult for me to stay there next season,” the 18-year-old made clear. “I’m young, and right now I just need to play and to enjoy my football.”
