Thomas Tuchel comments on his future amid Manchester United links
Abaca Press

Erik ten Hag is under increasing pressure to keep his job at Manchester United following a disastrous second campaign at the club.

The Dutchman’s impressive first season feels like a distant memory, with the mood at Old Trafford going from bad to worse with each passing week.

United’s deteriorating form as the season has progressed has only increased the pressure on Ten Hag, with United failing to make it into the Champions League next season.

The Reds do, however, have the chance to save some face as they could win the FA Cup in the final against Manchester City in two weeks.

Ten Hag’s future will, however, remain up in the air for another couple of weeks and that has led to links to Thomas Tuchel, who will depart Bayern Munich at the end of this season.

Last week, the former Chelsea manager insisted that staying at Bayern is not something that he is considering, fuelling rumours that he is being considered as Ten Hag’s successor.

Now, speaking ahead of his final week in charge of the German giants, Tuchel has commented on his future, admitting he will ‘think’ about the steps going forward.

“I have no idea. I will think about things in peace,” he said on the official Bayern Munich website.

“Things have been clear since February. I will take my time. There’s been no discussions with other clubs.”

The 50-year-old’s comments suggest that there have been no advances made by United just yet but time will tell if that changes.

INEOS have not publicly commented on Ten Hag’s future either and it remains to be seen whether he is in their plans going forward.

Old Trafford will host the latest rendition of a storied rivalry this Sunday, with Arsenal making the trip to the Theatre of Dreams as they chase their first Premier League trophy in 20 years.

Victory over United would take them to the summit of the Premier League, whilst dropping points will almost certainly hand the title to Manchester City, who are gunning for a fourth straight crown.
