‘Top-Class Player’ Ruled Out as Manchester United Injury Crisis Deepens

Manchester United have had a poor start to the season – in part due to a significant injury list, preventing manager Erik ten Hag from picking his strongest lineup. According to Fabrizio Romano, another summer signing is set for a spell on the sidelines.

£60 Million Signing Set to Miss Festive Period

Ten Players Currently Struggling with Injuries

The absent list at Old Trafford seems to grow every week, with the likes of Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Amad Diallo, Casemiro and Christian Eriksen all ruled out with injuries for a period of time at present.

Jadon Sancho looks likely to leave in January as the manager continues to exile him from the first-team squad while there are doubts about the fitness of Andre Onana, Rasmus Hojlund, Jonny Evans and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Luke Shaw is recovering from injury, having been absent since the 2-0 defeat to Tottenham in August.

Mason Mount Added to Manchester United Injury List

Former Chelsea midfielder Mount, who arrived in July in a big money transfer, has picked up an injury with the club now waiting for tests to assess how long he will be out. This will be a blow to the player, who has yet to find his place in this Manchester United team.

Frank Lampard, who managed the player in both of his spells as Chelsea manager and at Derby, once labelled the England International a “Top-Class Player,” and it was hard to argue that point as his ability in and out of possession alongside his ability on set-pieces made him a vital asset to the Blues, where he accumulated almost 200 appearances and became a regular for the national team.

However, since his move to Manchester United, he has struggled to nail down a starring role, having failed to dislodge Bruno Fernandes from his preferred position behind the striker. He has failed to impress in a withdrawn role and may now be moved into the wide areas as he looks to integrate himself as a regular starter.

The 24-year-old will have to build up his fitness amid this latest setback, with it looking like we may have to wait until the new year at the earliest to see the best of a player who has a Champions League winners medal, starting in Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Manchester City in the 2021 final.
