Tottenham have ‘approached’ 24-goal star, but they face competition from Arsenal

Tottenham Hotspur are working on signing the Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez at the end of the season.

A report from journalist Rudy Galetti claims that Tottenham have ‘approached’ the 22-year-old Mexican striker regarding a potential move, and it will be interesting to see if they follow it up with a concrete proposal in the summer.

Gimenez has established himself as one of the finest strikers in European football right now and he should prove to be a quality acquisition for Tottenham. He has 24 goals and six assists in all competitions. On paper, he could be the ideal long-term replacement for Harry Kane.

Meanwhile, Spurs will face competition from Premier League rivals Arsenal. The Gunners are looking to bring in attacking reinforcements as well and Gimenez is on their radar. He could prove to be an upgrade on Gabriel Jesus who has found the back of the net just four times in the league this season.

A move to Tottenham or Arsenal will be an exceptional opportunity for the Mexican striker, and he will look to prove himself at the highest level. Regular football in England could accelerate his development and help him fulfil his world class potential.

Santiago Gimenez would improve both clubs

Both clubs are the financial muscle to get the deal done, and it will be interesting to see where Gimenez ends up. Arsenal are likely to secure Champions League qualification for the next season, and Tottenham must ensure that they finish in the top four if they want to attract top players.

Players like Gimenez will want to compete at the highest level and win major trophies. Joining a club without Champions League football might not be a tempting proposition for him.

The Mexican is proven goalscorer and he helped Feyenoord win the league title last season. He could make a huge difference in the final third for the two clubs and transform them in the attack.
