Tottenham looking to raid bitter rivals for 18-year-old defensive prodigy

Tottenham are interested in securing the services of Chelsea youth product Josh Acheampong.

The North London club are planning for an important transfer window where they will undergo an overhaul. Quite a few of their players could be on the move and they will look to add some quality players to their squad.

Josh Acheampong’s impressive rise has caught Tottenham’s attention and according to Miguel Delaney via TBR Football, Spurs are looking to raid Chelsea for the signature of the teenage defensive sensation.

Acheampong has come up the ranks at Chelsea and he is currently a part of their Under-18 setup. During the ongoing campaign, he has been a part of their first-team squad on multiple occasions and was recently handed his first-team debut against Spurs. The teenager is capable enough to feature anywhere at the back and his impressive rise has attracted a lot of interest.

Under normal circumstances, the Blues might have never considered the idea of offloading the defensive sensation. However, they find themselves needing to sell to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules. They need to balance their books and offloading homegrown stars will help them significantly as they will be registered as pure profit.

Acheampong has huge potential and he could develop into a quality defender in the long run. As a result, Spurs are keen on his signature and they are looking to take advantage of Chelsea’s financial struggles.

It seems that Conor Gallagher might not be the only academy graduate on his way out of the club in the summer. The 18-year-old full-back could help raise a significant amount of money this summer.

He would be a long-term investment for Tottenham and he could develop into an important first team player for the North London club in the coming seasons.
