Tottenham ‘preparing a substantial proposal’ of £30m for January target

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Brazilian midfielder Joao Gomes this month.

The 22-year-old has impressed since joining Wolverhampton Wanderers and the North London outfit are keen on securing his services.

A report from Gavea News claims that Tottenham are now ‘preparing a substantial proposal’ to sign the player this month and the offer could be worth around £30 million.

Gomes will add technical liability and creativity to the Spurs midfield. The North London outfit need to add more depth to the central midfield and the Premier League midfielder should prove to be a quality long-term investment for them.

A move to Tottenham will be an exciting step up in his career as well and Gomes is likely to be tempted to join them. He is well settled in the Premier League and he could make an immediate impact at the London club.

Tottenham have done well to improve their squad this month with the signings of Radu Dragusin and Timo Werner. Signing a quality central midfielder would wrap up an impressive January window for them and it remains to be seen with the two clubs can work out an agreement.

Tottenham will be desperate to secure a top four finish and cement their place in the Champions League next season. They will need to plug the gaps in their squad in order to finish the season strongly.

Gomes could prove to be a bargain at £30 million if he can fulfil his potential in the coming seasons.
