Tottenham Hotspur’s injury struggles have persisted throughout the season, with a staggering number of players sidelined due to various issues.

Among those who have been unfortunate with injuries is star summer signing Micky van de Ven.

Van de Ven endured an injury setback during Tottenham’s recent victory against Aston Villa, aggravating a hamstring issue that had previously sidelined him for two months earlier in the season.

While initial assessments suggested the injury was not severe, concerns have arisen regarding the defender’s fitness ahead of upcoming fixtures.

Injury expert weighs in on Tottenham defender’s condition

Discussing van de Ven’s condition, injury expert Dr. Rajpal Brar emphasised the potential severity of the injury, indicating that if the Dutchman is to miss only a game or two, it is likely a Grade 2 out of 4 injury.

However, given van de Ven’s history of hamstring issues and the high rate of recurrence associated with such injuries, the club may opt for a conservative approach to his rehabilitation.

He said that the availability of van de Ven for upcoming matches, including the crucial clash against Luton, will depend on his progress in training during the break.

A fitness test may be required on the day of the game to ascertain his readiness to return to action.

He told Tottenham News:

“If he’s only to miss a game or two then it’s likely a Grade 2 out of 4 injury.

“Hard to give more information as the timeline hasn’t been shared but the club may be conservative as he has a history of hamstring injuries and they have a high rate of recurrence so may not risk him for this week.

“His availability will depend on how he’s trained over the break.

“A fitness test may be required on the day of the game to ensure he’s ready to start.“

Tottenham have a congested schedule ahead with the cub playing twice in 3 days.

Manager Ange Postecoglou will be hopeful for van de Ven’s swift recovery to bolster the team’s defensive line up during this critical phase of the season.
