Inter’s vice-President and legendary former defender Javier Zanetti was temporarily denied access to the Champions League draw on Monday, as he did not have his UEFA credentials to hand at the time of entry.

Security on the door of the event at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland were temporarily unwilling to let Zanetti enter the event as they were unable to identify him.

Video footage of the slightly embarrassing altercation has surfaced online, showing Zanetti engaged in conversation with the man on the door, insisting that he is the vice-President of Inter.

The Argentine had made a club-record number of appearances for the Nerazzurri during his playing days, 858 in total, including 159 in the Champions League.

After a minute or so of protesting, Zanetti was eventually allowed into the draw, where he found his seat in time to see Inter pulled out of the hat alongside Atletico Madrid.
