The 23-year-old who had less than six months remaining on his contract has put pen to paper today completing all the necessary formalities.
Walcott rejected a five year contract worth £75,000 a week in August and looked like he would move elsewhere if his terms and conditions were not met. The England international demanded much better salary and assurance of regular games in his preferred central striker position which Arsenal refused to comply to his wishes then.
Arsene Wenger, the Arsenal manager refused to break the wage structure at the club while the Frenchman exacerbated the situation by making strident criticism of the player’s attitude demanding commitment and loyalty.
