Bernardo Silva appears to be moving on from Manchester City as the veteran playmaker’s contract has a £50 million release clause, so his price tag isn’t too high. Nonetheless, the Premier League side is looking for a replacement, and Fabrizio Romano provided the latest.

Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona are the two clubs keen on Silva this summer. Manchester City is vying for his replacement because the 29-year-old is probably heading elsewhere.

One of the players who can fill the Portuguese player’s shoes is West Ham United sensation Lucas Paquetá. Romano provided the latest on Pep Guardiola and his team securing a replacement for Silva should PSG be the landing spot for the player.

“Lucas Paqueta to Manchester City could remain a story to watch, as some fans have been asking me again about links with the West Ham United midfielder,” Romano wrote in his column for CaughtOffside

“I have no idea of the betting stuff and of the legal situation surrounding the player, but in terms of transfer market, Paqueta remains high on Man City’s list for the summer. The player would also be keen on the move and City keep considering him one of the perfect players for Pep Guardiola’s project. But again, we have to see what happens with that issue before understanding Paqueta’s future.”

Agent Jorge Mendes, who has a good relationship with PSG sporting advisor Luis Campos, may hold the key to whoever lands Silva. Moreover, Campos has a relationship with Silva as PSG’s club chief brought him over to AS Monaco.

It will be interesting to see if either Barcelona or PSG come out on top in this race.
