Xavi Simons has had two successful loan stints with PSV and RB Leipzig. As a result, Paris Saint-Germain needs to ensure that the Dutchman plays a vital part in their future, and he recently revealed who might have played a role in his recent success.

Simons was at PSG, rubbing shoulders with some of the best players in the world, before leaving. So it’s no surprise that he credits players like Neymar Jr. for helping influence his career.

“Neymar is my idol,” Simons said. “Seeing him every day had a huge impact on me. When you become part of a team (PSG) like that, which is one of the best I’ve ever seen or has ever existed: you notice the attention to detail they put in daily. This is what has kept them at the top for so many years.”

It will be interesting to see if the Parisians can get Simons into their starting lineup for next season. This 2023-24 season, the youngster has appeared in 29 matches in all competitions, scoring seven goals and registering nine assists.

Before leaving for the Bundesliga, the Dutchman signed a four-year deal with PSG that will keep him at the Parc des Princes until at least 2027. The fee that RB Leipzig paid is believed to be as low as €6 million.
