Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-Min has not been at his best this season and the South Korean international has failed to hit top form.

Popular pundit Tam McManus has now criticised the 30-year-old’s form this season and has claimed that Tottenham should look to drop him from the starting lineup.

The South Korean International was in the form of his life last season and he managed to win the Premier League Golden Boot. However, the drop-off this year has been remarkable and it has certainly surprised fans and pundits alike.

McManus believes that Son has been unable to find the back of the net consistently but what is more worrying is that his general play has declined as well.

He said to Football Insider that the likes of Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski should be preferred ahead of him if they are fit.

This guy won the golden boot last season, I don’t understand what has happened, it’s amazing, really.

“Everything he touched went in the back of the net and this season couldn’t be more different. He is so far off the pace.

“Not only is he not scoring but his general play just isn’t there either. You have to get him out of the team. I don’t know if Richarlison and Kulusevski are fully fit but when they are they need to come in.

“You have to play your form players. Tottenham are having a decent season even if the mood around the club is quite negative.

“Performances are well below par and Son kind of sums that up.”

It will be interesting to see if Son can regain his form in the coming weeks.

Tottenham will be desperate to secure a top-four finish and they will need their best players firing on all cylinders in order to make it happen.

The 30-year-old is a world-class player on his day and he could transform Tottenham in the final third if he manages to hit top form once again.

The arrival of Arnaut Danjuma will certainly put more pressure on the South Korean international and he could easily find himself out of the starting lineup if he doesn’t regain his peak form.

Meanwhile, the on-loan Villarreal winger has made an impressive start to life at Tottenham and he has already managed to find the back of the net for his new club.

It remains to be seen whether he can build on that performance and hold down a regular starting berth at Tottenham now.
