Lazio have been left concerned about the condition of Mattia Zaccagni ahead of the upcoming Derby della Capitale with Roma.

The 28-year-old Italian forward is one of the most important players in the Biancocelesti squad but has struggled with poor form this season, managing just four goals and one assist in 23 Serie A appearances, failing to look his usual dangerous self.

Zaccagni started for Lazio in their Coppa Italia clash with Juventus on Tuesday evening and was forced off the pitch after just 13 minutes, seemingly suffering a painful ankle issue. He was replaced by Gustav Isaksen and looked pain as he came off the pitch.

Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) details how Lazio are concerned that Zaccagni has suffered some significant sprain trauma to his left ankle, an issue that could keep him sidelined for a number of weeks.

With the Derby della Capitale against Roma fast approaching, the Biancocelesti are keeping a close eye on the 28-year-old’s condition as Igor Tudor plans ahead for a fiery clash at the Stadio Olimpico.
