This is a pretty awesome interactive gigapixel panorama of the Sooners Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium from this past weekends game against Tennessee.
Even though the Sun Belt teams were underdogs in a lot of these games it’s very rare to see a conference put a goose egg in the win column on any given weekend. Here’s how the Sun Belt fared on this past Saturday….
Abilene Christian 38 Troy 35
Air Force 48 Georgia State 38
Georgia Tech 42 Georgia Southern 38
LSU 31 UL Monroe 0
Miami, FL 41 Arkansas State 20
Arkansas showed a lot of promised as they ran over Texas Tech 49-28. It looked something like this….
Oh man, this is hilarious….
Georgia and South Carolina are in weather delay, so CBS is showing the 2013 Iron Bowl. Twitter thinks it’s live. pic.twitter.com/7vYKAP2RTy

Not the classiest move but Vandy will take the win…it’s first of the Derek Mason era.
Virginia is up in this one and tempers are flaring a bit….
Last week was a complete dud in terms of SEC games. This week we get a little more excitement….
UCF (0-1) at Missouri (2-0), Noon, SEC Network
Line: Mizzou by 10.5
These teams met in 2012 with Missouri hanging on for the victory. I like the home field advantage for the Tigers but I do feel that they will be tested. Look for this to be a close game throughout with Mizzou pulling...
Colorado is adding beer and Kentucky has countered by adding a DJ in the student section? I know which game I’d rather be at….
Dee Jay Silver will be based in the student section for the UK games, DJing from there.

When your football team is in the gutter you really need more reasons for fans to come out to the games and for me this is a fantastic reason.
From The Ralphie Report:
The Colorado athletic director today announced that two new beer gardens will debut on Saturday night on the west side of the stadium. The Buffalo Beer Garden presented by Hazel’s will be open near the buffalo...
What I think should happen is that when you have a press conference, as they come off the field, the referee should … have to answer any quick questions the media have on the calls they made and why this was made and how this was made, so coaches and athletic directors aren’t left with that, so at least there will be an explanation you see. … I think that needs to happen. I...
I wrote up a piece for The Student Section previewing this game….
The Georgia-South Carolina rivalry has quietly became one of the best in the SEC. Georgia owns the series 47-17-2 but over the last seven years, the Gamecocks have four wins. South Carolina had built a three-game win streak, its first ever in the series, before Georgia won 41-30 last year in Athens.
The big reason...
This will be the least exciting week of SEC football this season so let’s just get right into the predictions without much “analysis”….
FAU (0-1) at Alabama (1-0), Noon, SEC Network

Prediction: Alabama 48 FAU 0
Missouri (1-0) at Toledo (1-0), Noon, ESPN

This one could be interesting because the Rockets play very well at home and...
David Ash is out for the BYU game with concussion-like symptoms. Ash missed ten games last season for the same reason. Mysanantonio.com has a breakdown of Ash’s injury history here: link.
For the short term, the team will be turned over to Tyrone Swoopes, who is an extremely exciting player to watch, and it will be interesting to see what he brings to the table under Charlie Strong...
I posted my re-cap of the first week of SEC football over at The Student Section.
You can check it out at this link.
The SEC season started out with a couple of surprises on Thursday night as A&M ran South Carolina out of their own building and we found out that life without James Franklin at Vandy might not be so easy. Overall, I went 1-2 with straight up picks but did go 2-1 against the spread. Here are this weekends picks….

Wow. Texas A&M went out and offensively imposed their will on the South Carolina defense. Generally speaking, the Gamecocks have had a pretty good defense over the last few years but they just looked over-matched today. Were they not prepared, do they not have the players or was it just a bad match-up for the Gamecocks?
Aggies QB Kenny Hill finished his debut throwing 44 of...

South Carolina not only will learn about life after Jadeveon Clowney, but more importantly they must replace Connor Shaw. Dylan Thompson has seen action over the last two years but now it’s time for him to take center stage. The Gamecocks have a good set of weapons to help out Thompson including Mike Davis...
Larry Fedora hasn’t named a starting quarterback for the upcoming season. Is it because he’s unsure of who will be the man under center or maybe it’s because he wants to use the element of surprise in his first game.
Nope. Apparently he just likes to troll the fans and the media….
Larry Fedora on why he won’t reveal his starting QB: “because it bothers everybody and that...
Former Northwestern star running back Venric Mark announced recently that he was transferring rather than play his senior season with the Wildcats. Well, it looks like Mark has found a new home.

Which fanbases are the most loyal in college football? A study by the Emory Sports Marketing Analytics says it’s Texas.
Here is how they describe their approach:
Our approach is data and statistically driven, as we look at how fans support their teams after controlling for how well the team performs on the field, the market it plays in, and school characteristics

Over the past month, there have been rumblings that Oklahoma was “very confident” that their waiver to allow Dorial Green-Beckham to play this season would be approved. This was quite perplexing to myself and most of the college football world. The only way I felt DBG would be eligible was if Missouri went to bat for DGB and I just couldn’t see that happening.
I wrote a piece on Missouri today for The Student Section. Here’s a sneak peak….
The Missouri Tigers would have been the talk of the SEC and possibly the nation last season if not for the miraculous turnaround of the Auburn Tigers. Missouri went from fifth place in the SEC East in its debut season, and just two conference wins, to winning the East and going 12-2. Was 2013 the...

Braxton Miller re-injured his throwing shoulder at practice on Monday and the word on the street is that he will miss the 2014 season. Miller is one of the top players in college football and one of the front-runners for the Heisman Trophy. Can Ohio State survive life without Braxton?
Last season Miller missed some time and Kenny Guiton filled in admirably but Guiton was a senior...
