Days of Y'Orr Fantasy Football League

Since Fantasy Hockey is up in the air this year, we're going to run a Fantasy Football league (or two, or three, depending on how many people want in). We're going to use Yahoo! since it is convienent for me and all my leagues are in Yahoo!. Here are the settings: Number of Teams: 16Number of Divisions: 4Draft: Live Draft on September 3 at noon (all pre-season games are...

NHLPA To Send "Alternate View" To NHL Today.

A little dramatic? Maybe. But lets be honest, today is going to either make us very happy or make us completely miserable. Today the NHLPA will be sending a counter offer to the NHL's joke of an offer in July. For those who don't know what the NHL's initial offer was, here's a small piece of what the link we provided says:  NHL proposal to players: 1-reduce players...

DOY's Guide To Surviving An(other) NHL Lockout

Guys, it's time for us to get serious for a moment. There's a potential NHL lockout looming and we need to face the facts. Burying our heads in Revere Beach's sand or cupping our ears and singing Zombie Nation at a super high pitch isn't going to make this go away. There's about a month left from now until September 15th, the date Gary Bettman has set as the deadline...

DOY wins 'Best Sports Blog', 'Best Boston Blogger'

Just found out (officially) this morning that Days of Y'Orr has won "Best Sports Blog" and "Best Boston Blogger" for the 2012 Boston A-List contest. This also means Purrgeron won't fire us for at least another year... maybe. We're quickly racking up some titles. Can't do it with out all the support from our readers. Huge thanks to you guys. We really...

Deadline: September 15, 2012

If there is no agreement by September 15, 2012 there will be a lockout. Our friends over at The PensBlog breaks it all down, but know that if there isn't a deal by the 15th (or close to that date), it's lockout city. Some people believe that the NHL will play hockey this season, but I'm such a ******* pessimist that I don't see it happening and I think that'...

If we could be serious for a minute.....

We rarely do serious posts here at Days of Y'Orr. It obviously isn't our style. Quite frankly we're not even remotely good at being serious. Not on this blog and certainly not in our day to day lives. We take hockey so obnoxiously seriously that we had to form a blog to do ridiculous photoshops and needlessly troll opposing fan bases just to take the edge...

Oh Tim Thomas...It's not you, it's me. (But it's you)

Click to get a larger res version I don't know why I'm writing this but here it goes. If you missed the "news" last night, Tim Thomas agrees with the stance that Chik-Fil-A has regarding gay marriage. While I don't agree with what Tim Thomas said, he has a right to say it. It's as simple as that. Tim Thomas doesn't believe in gay marriage. I believe...

Days of Y'Orr's NHL 13 GM League. Xbox 360.

Welcome, welcome, welcome. So NHl 13 has this mode called "GM Connected Mode" and it sounds pretty ******* bad ass. Days of Y'Orr has tried to expand into different areas of reader participation of sorts over the year. We ran two Fantasy Hockey leagues that were pretty awesome. When I heard about this mode, I figured it would be a good way to get DOY readers (or anyone...

Nathan Horton Cleared For Contact

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE! Today Peter Chiarelli announced that Nathan Horton has been cleared for contact. Apparently Chiarelli talked about it today at Claude's press conference. Since McQuaid's mullet is gone, this is the best news the DOY crew has received today. The last time Horton played was in January, when Tom Sestito elbowed Horton in the head and took him out for the...

R.I.P. Adam McQuaid's Mullet...

Bruins Nation received some bad news today. After missing that mean, mean son of a ***** Adam McQuaid in the playoffs, we were further devestated by the news that Adam McQuaid has... trimmed his mullet. The official Bruins Twitter posted this terrifying picture early this morning:Artsy, sure, but terrible! Sources have indicated that the Mullet was McQuaid's source of his vicious...

Bruins Sign Julien To Extention

Yesterday afternoon (or evening?) the Bruins sent out an e-mail saying that they have reached a multi-year deal with current coach Claude Julien. Claude was going into a lame duck year (that means the last year of his contract) and I think it was smart by Bruins management to lock him up. I'm not saying that Julien is one of the best coaches in the NHL, but there would be a team...

Flyers/Weber Sign Offer Sheet. Unreal Trolling By Philly.

This is what you get when you type "Flyers Troll" into Google Images. Last night the Flyers sent an offer sheet to Nashville Predators' restricted free agent defenseman Shea Weber that is 14 years and over $100M. My initial reaction was this: I'm not sure if I'm stunned at the Flyers' balls to send an offer sheet to a restricted free agent because no one...

Bruins Ink Aaron Johnson

Ex-Columbus defenseman Aaron Johnson will more than likely don a (Providence) Bruins sweater this season. The 29 year old defenseman had a career year in Columbus last year with 16 points in 52 games. Johnson will probably be used primarily in the AHL, 105K AHL contract and 650K NHL contract, and move up and down based on injuries. Nothing too exciting. SO LETS MAKE IT EXCITING!

Jam out with your clam out ladies because this is real! Does Chiarelli Need a Change in Philosophy?

Before we get started, let's just get a few basics out of the way. This is not a "Chiarelli sucks" post. We do not think Chiarelli should've pushed hard for Parise or Suter (though we wouldn't have complained if he did), especially give the Bruins current cap and who they need to re-sign next year. This certainly isn't a post in support of the vocal minority...

Buffalo Sabres add John Scott, Steve Ott

We now take you live to Days of Y'Orr GM Patrice Purrgeron's press conference in progress..... ...and the North East Division is changing. Brian Burke continues to refuse to change his strategy and make the Maple Leafs a playoff worthy team. The Ottawa Senators are putting all their faith in a defenseman who is on the ice for just as many points as he scores. The Montreal...

Milan Lucic still 'impacting' the Buffalo Sabres

Hey, hey, hey!Remember that time when Milan Lucic ran through Ryan Miller and everyone shat themselves 'cause apparently hitting in hockey is a foreign concept? And then Miller called Lucic a "piece of ****" and Buffalo pretended Miller had a concussion and then when Looch threatened Shanahan to reveal the blackmail photos he has on Shanny doing naughty things with...

Happy Free Agent Day!

Today marks the free agent signing frenzy. Here's what we expect from the Peter Chiarelli and the Boston Bruins today:At most, a depth guy you never heard of (at most). Don't expect a big splash from Chia, not with a limited cap which currently stands at a tiny $277,857. Any signing would need a trade or two to make room before the season starts.Edit: We forgot about Savard...

It "Tuukk" Long Enough. Bruins; Rask Ink Deal

BOS and netminder Rask agreed to terms on one-year, $3.5M deal. — Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) June 28, 2012 Boom! We all know that Bob's word on contracts is pretty much golden. So lets look at this deal. I think it's pretty win/win for both sides, though it seems that everyone is getting all bent out of shape re: the 1 year contract. I think people need...

The Hall Now Has It's Oates

-After playing 1337 games, scoring 341 goals, assisting on 1079 other goals and acquiring 1420 points in his career, the previous undrafted Adam Oates is now headed to the Hockey Hall of Fame. It's awesome to see former Bruins make it to the HHOF, and while I'm sure some people aren't huge Oates fans (looking at you Scott!), Oates deserves to be there. I know that players...

The Hypocrisy of “Loyalty” in Sports

We will admit right from the start that this post is going to be kind of preachy. Whatever. We don’t care. There isn’t much going on in Days of Y’Orr land. The Days of Y’Orr staff, to various degrees, has been bothered by how fast fans around Boston have turned on Tim Thomas since his Facebook announcement that he is likely taking next season off. We’re not talking about...

Why Trading For Keith Yandle Would Be An Excellent Idea

Pro Hockey Talk reported this morning that Keith Yandle is potentially available via trade and immediate I had a raging cactus in my pants. Unlike the rumors for Rick Nash, which I believe would be a ******* stupid move on the part of the Bruins, Yandle would bring some much needed upgrade to an already good defensive group. Now let me preface this by saying that I'm a big Yandle...
