Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban was asked about AJ McCarron’s appearance on Sports Illustrated this week and his response was utterly priceless. Classic Saban.
The Texas Rangers sent out an email to season ticket holders this morning that included the price for different plans they were offering, as well as a photo of recently traded star Ian Kinsler. One season ticket holder showed that he received and email sans Kinsler, but it probably would have been best to double-check something like this prior to sending it out.
Toledo Rockets offensive lineman Greg Mancz suplexed his own running back to help him gain a 1st down against Northern Illinois last night. It wasn’t as epic as the fake punt for a touchdown complete with a hurdle on Tuesday night, but MACtion continues to be must-see TV.
Bret Bielema hasn’t had the outcome he probably imagined his team having in his first year with the Razorbacks (3-7 overall and 0-6 in SEC). To make matters worse, LSU Freek put together this wonderfully enjoyable GIF of Bret Bielema in the place of the Nationwide Insurance. Here’s the commercial LSU Freek is referencing in case you have no idea what this is about.
As you probably are well aware, Mike Tyson took a chunk out of Evander Holyfield’s ear during the infamous 1997 Heavyweight Championship fight. In a 60-second Foot Locker commercial, several prominent athletes including Brett Favre, Dennis Rodman, Tyson and Holyfield, get to have alternative endings to their infamous sports decision. Very creative ad.
Dwight Howard notched his firs double digit rebound and 30-point night for the Houston Rocket Wednesday against the Dallas Mavericks. However, not only was D12′s performance not enough to lift Houston over Dallas, the lost 123-120, but it will be overshadowed by one silly decision. With the Rockets up late in the fourth quarter, Howard lost his cool after collecting an offensive...
Tom Brady and Peyton Manning face off this weekend as the Denver Broncos travel to New England to face the Patriots. To get you ready for this weekends big-showdown, in this weeks Sports Illustrated issue, they put together a timeline depicting the hairstyles of the two Super Bowl winners. Manning certainly doesn’t veer off on his hairstyle like Brady does.
In a strange turn of events, if you google Jameis Winston, a picture of Randall Cunningham shows up. I’m guessing that with the press Winston is getting with this alleged sexual assault that this will change quickly.
It seems like there have been a lot more own-goals in the NHL this year than in year’s past. The New Jersey Devils tied the game with 61 seconds left to force overtime with the Anaheim Ducks. In overtime, the Devils went down on a two-on-one but it the play was broken up thanks to the phenomenal back check Hampus Lindholm. Unfortunately, Lindholm’s defensive partner Ben...
Ottawa Senators forward Clarke MacArthur was coming down on a two on one with Kyle Turris when Minnesota Wild defenseman Ryan Suter cut off any attempt at a pass across, or so Suter thought. MacArthur pulled one out of his bag of tricks and fired a gorgeous between-the-legs pass to Turris who was able to bury it past goalie Josh Harding. Welcome to SportsCenter’s Top Ten, Clarke.
In a shocking move the Detroit Tigers and Texas Rangers made a blockbuster trade on Wednesday night. The Tigers sent Prince Fielder and cash considerations to the Rangers for Ian Kinsler. Oddly enough, Kinsler and Fielder starred in an Sunday Night Baseball commercial with Adam Scott discussing trades involving themselves and Scott Lincecum. Definitely one of the stranger occurrences...
Another day, another example of ridiculous recruiting overkill. 5-star defensive tackle Matt Elam received 262 letters from Notre Dame in one single day, the same Matt Elam that received 182 letter earlier this year from the Kentucky Wildcats. Notre Dame referred to it as his “pot of gold” and I’m guessing that this is a recruiting record for overkill. His mailman must...
Iowa State got its second consecutive big non-conference win on Wednesday night defeating BYU on the road 90-88, but not without same drama late in the game. After Iowa State’s best player, Melvin Ejim, fouled out in the 4th quarter with under two minutes, the 6-foot-6 forward gave the middle finger to the BYU fans. Here’s a close up pic. Ejim will certainly be hearing from...
It appears the Toledo Rockets were unaware that last month was Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For their game on Wednesday night against Northern Illinois, they unveiled their “Power in Pink” uniforms. The jerseys are a pretty cool design, making sure to incorporate plenty of Breast Cancer Awareness ribbons to make up the pink parts of the uniform and even putting them on...
The Boston Celtics were dominated by the Houston Rockets Tuesday night, 109-85. Rajon Rondo, who’s healing his torn ACL, had a priceless reaction after examining his teams stats. If I had to guess which stat it was that made Rondo not pleased, I’d say it was the minus-36 in +/− from Avery Bradley for the game. Or it could have been the 24 points Rockets’ Terrance Jones put up on his team.

Jon Stewart and The Daily Show dug into Qatar’s new soccer stadium that will be home to the 2022 World Cup that looks eerily similar to a female part. Like only The Daily Show could, Tuesday night’s show featured a segment “Unnecessary Muffness” on the design of the Al-Wakrah stadium. Watch and laugh.
This is not how you place defense, folks. The Knicks’ Amar’e Stoudemire has never been a defensive star, and on Wednesday against the Detroit Pistons, Stoudemire showed exactly what bad defense looks like. Luckily for Stoudemire, Peyton Siva was called for a travel, so his delayed reaction to Josh Smith’s shot-fake-pass in the third quarter didn’t actually cost the Knicks.
Minnesota Wild goalie Josh Harding showed off his flexibility when he reached across to rob Montreal Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty. Harding literally pulled this puck off the goal line to keep it from going in. Unfortunately for Harding, he had a brutal second period and was pulled after allowing three goals in just over ten minutes…all of which were by Max Pacioretty. Looks...
Kent State was down 24-13 in the third quarter when head coach Paul Haynes decided to roll the dice. KSU ran a fake punt where the ball was snapped to true freshman offensive lineman Nate Terhune. Terhune showed off his phenomenal athleticism and hurdled a defender en route to the end zone. This is perhaps the best execution of a fake punt that will be seen all year and Terhune...
Jabari Parker continues to make impressive plays for the Duke Blue Devils. In a close game with East Carolina on Tuesday night, Parker made a defensive play on one end, then took it coast-to-coast and finished with a slam. Not as impressive as Parker’s dunk against Kansas if I don’t say. So who you got: Parker, Andrew Wiggins or Julius Randle?
On the back of Christiano Ronaldo, Portugal advanced to next summer’s World Cup after its 3-2 defeat over Sweden in a WC qualifier on Tuesday. Sweden went up early but then arguably the Greatest Soccer Player in the World took scoring the next three goals for Portugal. Zlatan Ibrahimoivic netted the two goals for Sweden including this blast on a free-kick but in the end could...
You know you had a bad season when a game show starts to poke fun at you. This question appeared on Jeopardy on Monday night and it has to sting a little bit for Houston Astros fans. The answer? Closer or “blowout preventer.” Ouch.
An assistant coach at Bloomfield High School in Connecticut busted out this dance in the pre-game to get his team hype. Based on their reaction, I’d have to say it worked pretty well.

UMass basketball player Raphiael Putney threw down this massive dunk on Youngstown State, where he took off from just inside the free throw line. If he keeps throwing down dunks like this, we’ll see him in the College Basketball Dunk Contest at the end of the year.

It looked like New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was adjusting his uniform when running back Legarrette Blount came in for a high-five. Brady threw up an elbow for his teammate to give a slap to and you have to wonder if it’s because of his swollen hand. The media has been making a big deal out of the fact that Brady’s throwing hand has been noticeably swollen and...
