There’s much enjoyment to be had in this three-minute clip of “Redskins Saturday Night” from the mid-’80s. First, there’s Rich Milot and George Starke, two regulars from the Joe Gibbs glory years, plus George Starke’s hat. Then there’s Champions Sports Bar, a Georgetown institution, full of boozy Washington and Dallas fans. Next, there’s Tony Kornheiser cracking...
Robert Griffin III was on with Jay Leno last night and was pretty much the most likeable version of himself, which is to say he was the most likeable person ever. The full interview is above, starting with the band playing “Hail to the Redskins” and ending with RGIII beatboxing. Yes, he even makes beatboxing likeable. [Real Redskins]

F.P. says, “”Fire all your bullets.”
F.P. spouts a factual error (e.g., Reds coach Chris Speier was “a 20-HR guy.” The Internet says his high was only 15).
Bob recommends something (a restaurant, a movie, whatever) unrelated to baseball.
F.P. and or...
This year’s BATTLE OF THE BELTWAYS™ starts tomorrow at Nats Park with the first-place O’s and the first-place Nats squaring off. This series is always weird. As a fan of both teams I don’t like rooting against either. Now that they’re both doing well I’m treating this three-game set as an exhibition of sorts. Hopefully no one gets swept.
I come by that indifference honestly...

I heard about this on Twitter but am seeing it just now via Deadspin:
That unfortunate moment followed a first-inning rain delay, and the next pitch resulted in a two-run basehit, all while Strasburg was dealing with a Hot Stuff situation. Tough day, weird day.

Here’s Caps correspondent Brad Parker with the companion piece to his earlier post, Five Caps Players That Benefit From Dale Hunter’s Departure.
1. John Carlson
Yes, Carlson struggled during the regular season. For the first time fans in Washington were questioning him. But the whole time he had a friend behind the bench. Carlson played for Hunter in London and Hunter is nothing...
Caps correspondent Brad Parker returns to look at the post-Dale Caps.
Dale Hunter told us he was heading home on Monday. Our former captain is now also our former coach. His time in D.C. (well, this time) was short, but he made a major impact. Here’s a look at which Caps will benefit now that Hunter’s heard London calling.
(Ed. note: Brad will be back later today with five...

I’m not sure what you call Bryce Harper’s famed haircut — the skullet, the muskrat, the brohawk — but he took a razor to the back, leaving him rattail-less for the first time as a big leaguer:
Approve. Elsewhere in Harper mythology, the wunderkind had a rough night at the dish, going 0-for-5 in his worst game since joining the Nats two weeks ago. It was so bad that after...

The Redskins’ new alternate uniforms are throwbacks to the Sammy Baugh era, and the Skins plan to wear them twice during this, their 80th season. Some will say these are totally badass, while others will be reminded of Seminoles football, or maybe that awful movie with George Clooney and Jim from The Office. I will like them so long as the Redskins are winning.

We were first made familiar with Ovi’s understated 2010 Mercedes Benz SL65 AMG Black Series by Steinz a couple years ago. Then it was covered with a flat black paint job. But now it has a new look, as spotted by the Youngest Mottram on Thursday morning:
Still an amazing vehicle, although could do without the Rangers colors right about now.

As tweeted by @NationalsPR, which is “the official Twitter page of the Washington Nationals Baseball Media Relations Department,” during last night’s Nats-Pirates game at PNC Park (via D.C. Sports Bog):
Now, PNC Park is a beautiful ballpark, and I don’t find Pittsburgh itself to be particularly ugly, but really? You’re the PR arm of the Nationals and you’re hailing Pittsburgh...

The news on Jayson Werth’s broken wrist gets worse. According to Bill Ladson, he will be out “at least 12 weeks” after undergoing surgery on Monday. This puts his return at the beginning of August. So yeah, pretty awful news there. Werth’s been the team’s second best hitter with an .810 OPS this season.
But on the bright side, Zimmerman and LaRoche are both set to return...
Cole Hamels intentionally hit Bryce Harper on Sunday night because … he’s a rookie? He’s getting too much attention? No one’s really sure. But we are sure that it was intentional, because Hamels admitted as much Monday morning.
This caused Nats GM Mike Rizzo to react. And react in the most awesome way possible. Via Adam Kilgore at The Post:
“Players take care of themselves...
“He’s the starter. Period.”
That would be Mike Shanahan, impressed with young Robert Griffin III’s performance through five practices during the Redskins’ three-day rookie minicamp. It’s not a surprising sentiment when you consider that every QB taken in the top five since 2008 has started in Week 1 (via Real Redskins), but the timing caught me off guard. As Matt Terl...
